Profile: Wayne Provost was raised on a combination of the Piikani reserve and Fort MacLeod. His family ranched and his early jobs involved doing ranch work for local farmers. The farm work he did provided the skills that he used when he worked for four years on chain link fencing for a construction company. He was then promoted to a senior foreman position and worked for that company throughout Southern Alberta for 14 years. Though he was the foreman and in charge of work crews, many people with whom he interacted at work assumed that because he was Indigenous that he must just be one of the labourers. Provost decided, after his long career with the one company, to pursue college and university business programs. In 2021 he became a program consultant with Service Canada.
