Alberta Labour History Institute: Working Class Edmonton Built Heritage Tour

July 4, 6, and 8, 11 am-12:30 pm

Gather on north side plaza of the Downtown Edmonton Public Library. Meet at broad staircase facing the new LRT stop and City Hall.

The tour of buildings, some still standing and repurposed, and others demolished will provide the backdrop to stories about the issues affecting working-class families throughout the 20th century. That includes the 1919 Edmonton General Strike and 1932 Hunger March. All participants will receive a free copy of ALHI’s new booklet, “Edmonton Working Class Heritage Buildings.” Tour guide is Cathy Roy, former curator of Western Canadian History at Royal Alberta Museum.
