Profile: Linda Roberts graduated from the Holy Cross in Calgary in 1972. One week later she had not only married her husband but had begun a career of several decades at what is now the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
Roberts was a union activist who became president of her hospital’s Staff Nurses’ Association in 1975. In 1977 she became one of the founders of the United Nurses of Alberta, helping to craft UNA’s first constitution. After its founding, she served as a Central District Representative, a member of the Negotiating Committee, and as chair of the Legislative Committee.
Roberts’ drive and foundational work, her passion for education, public health care, and fairness left lasting fingerprints on the heart of the United Nurses of Alberta.
