Wesley Mapp

Profile: Wesley Mapp was born and raised in the historically African-Canadian community of Amber Valley, Alberta. One of Alberta’s first Black insulators, Mapp was active as a union steward for Local 110 of the Insulators’ Union. As an industrial insulator working in refineries, he and the union focused on improving occupational health and safety. He faced racial discrimination in terms of promotions.
